    Boilers Vaillant Eco-Tec Service
  • Vaillant Eco-Tec ServiceThe Vaillant Eco-Tec boiler is one of the best boilers’s around these days.

Where possible, we will only fit Vaillant or Worcester boilers.

The reason being is the build quality, and the ease of servicing.

The Vaillant Eco-Tec is easy to service as long as you follow the routine.

Before any service work is carried out on the boiler, a visual inspection of the flue and the boiler are done.

Next, ask the client if they have had any problems or issues.

We always ask for any paperwork the client may have relating to the boiler.

We are looking for any work that may have been carried out by another company, also to see if the benchmark has been filled in and is up to date.

The Vaillant Eco-Tec boiler, as should any boiler be serviced at least once a year.

But as we all like to save our pennies sometimes this turns into years or until something goes wrong, then we decide it’s boiler service time.

The first thing we do with the Vaillant Eco-Tec service is isolating the power feeding the boiler; this could be through either a fused spur even a removable plug.

We always check that the correct fuse is fitted; this should be 3amp and no more than 5amp.

once the power has been isolated, remove the front cover; carry out an internal visual inspection, look for any signs of leakage.

Now we carry out an inspection of the Eco-Tec for dirt and dust, if needed clean,

we always use a hoover with a small pointed end fitted to get into the small places.

Have a good look around the heat exchanger for any signs of combustion leakage or corrosion.

his would show as black marks around where the main burner seals to the heat exchanger.

If you are going to remove the main burner from the heat exchanger, then make sure you have a new door seal with you, this is a recommendation from Vaillant,Ihttps://duvalheating.co.uk/how-safe-are-your-gas-appliances/f you don’t fit a new door seal you may end up with products of combustion leaking from the boiler.

Once you have the burner removed you can if need be clean and check around the heating coil.

This is done with fresh water or to remove any stubborn bits a little vinegar helps.

Now close the flow and return valves located underneath the boiler and drain the water from the boiler, check that the pressure gauge drops to zero,

Now, the boiler is empty check the internal expansion vessel for the correct pressure,

if need be, top it up, this is something that always to seems to get missed out.

Also if your system has an extra expansion vessel fitted this also needs to be checked, that may mean draining the whole system if necessary.

Once these checks have been carried out open the valves on the boiler and start to refill, bleed out any air where possible.

The internal condense trap needs to be removed and cleaned out.

You will be surprised what you find in that trap, don’t forget to refill the trap with fresh before water refitting.

Otherwise, you may find products of combustion leaking into the room.

The next check for you Vaillant Eco-Tec service is the gas.

Check the standing pressure at the boiler, now set the boiler to run at full power.

This is done by the onboard computer, depending on your model the minimum pressure is between 16mb and 15mb for natural gas.

    If the readings are ok, then the next test we do is a tightness test;

This does not necessarily form part of the service.

We carry this out as part of our safety procedures.

Now the boiler is all back together we carry out a combustion test, with the flue gas analyzer.

The flue probe is put into the airside of the flue first to check for combustion leakage.

If all good we then move onto the combustion side.

We are looking at the Co/Co2 ratio, to make sure it does not exceed its limit as stated in the Vaillant Eco-Tec service book.

One thing that I forgot to mention is we always take a reading before we start the service; this way we can compare the reading of before and after.

Now that the service is nearly complete, we leave the boiler running and check all radiators within the property,

just to see if they are heating up, and also to purge any air from them.

Now while drinking a nice cup of tea or coffee that the client so generously offers to make, the paperwork is filled in,

First the benchmark, then the service certificate.

As with any gas appliance, always make sure that the company or engineer working on your Vaillant Eco-Tec boiler is Gas Safe Registered,

always ask to see the engineers Gas Safe Card.

We all carry them, and if the engineers tells you that he has left it at home, then ask him to leave your property,

and only return when he can produce it.

The Regulations state that we must always carry our Gas Safe Card with us if carrying out gas works.
